Alfredo Andere-Mendiolea THE FOUNDING OF IBLC Mr. Alfredo Andere-Mendiolea, founds IBLC Abogados, S.C., in Mexico City in July of 1999 and International Business & Legal Consultants, Inc., in San Diego, California, in January of 1992. AREAS OF PRACTICE AND EXPERTISE
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND Mr. Andere-Mendiolea was born in Mexico City, Mexico, and obtained his Mexican Law Degree at Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City (1984), with Honors. He holds a Master's Degree in Comparative Law and Postgraduate Studies in Private International Law from the University of San Diego (1985-1987). He obtained: a Diploma Certificate from USD on the Legal System of the United States (1985); Diploma Certificates on International Secured Transactions, on Project Finance from INFOSEC (1991); and several Diploma Certificates on International Commercial Arbitration from the American Bar Association (ABA) and from the Center for Mediation and Arbitration from the National Chamber of Commerce in Mexico City (CANACO); and from the Mexican Academy of Private International Law and Comparative Law, A.C. Founder and President of International Business and Legal Consultants, Inc. in San Diego, California (1992), and Founder and Managing Partner of IBLC Abogados, S.C. in Mexico City (1999); Of Counsel Advisor to the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Relations (1997-1998); founding partner of Krasovsky-Andere, S.C. in Tijuana, B.C. Mr. Andere-Mendiolea has been actively involved and has participated in several Professional and Academic Organizations, among others: Former President of the Institute of Latin Professionals in San Diego; Former President for the Committee for Mexico and Mexicans in San Diego; Former Board Member to the World Affairs Council; Former Board Member of the San Diego Chamber of Commerce's, International Advisory Council; Former Board Member of San Diego State University's Bi-National Program; Former Co-Chairman of the Mexico-California Bar Associations Committee. Mr. Andere Mendiolea is currently a Member of: The Mexican Academy of Private International Law and Comparative Law, A.C. (AMEDIP, A.C.), where he was appointed and is currently the Coordinator of the Drafting of the International Venue and Jurisdiction Chapter of a proposed Private International Law Code for Mexico; The Mexican Bar Association (Barra Mexicana-Colegio de Abogados, A.C.), International Law, Commercial Law, Administrative Law and Intellectual Property Law Sections; American Bar Association, International Law and Intellectual Property Law; California State Bar Association, International Law and Intellectual Property Law Sections; International Bar Association; Institute of the Americas, UCSD; Mexico City Chamber of Commerce (CANANCO); Tijuana Chamber of Commerce (CANACO Servitur Tijuana) where he serves since 2002 as the Chambers’ Chief Legal Advisor in International and Intellectual Property Law; National Chamber of Manufactures (CANACINTRA); National Association of Importers and Exporters of Mexico (ANIERM); National Association of Franchising; Asociacion Nacional de Abogados de Empresas (ANADE); Industrial Property Mexican Association. Mr. Andere has been subject of numerous newspaper articles and his opinions and or papers in the areas of his expertise have been published or broadcasted in several newspapers, magazines, radio and televisions in Mexico, Latin America and the United States of America, amongst other, El Financiero, Reforma, Excelsior, El Norte, El Sol de Mexico. Novedades, El Economista, San Diego Business Journal, San Diego Union-Tribune, San Diego Executive Magazine, California Lawyer, Twin Plant News, Televisa, TV Azteca, Channel 7/39; KPBS San Diego, and Radio Fórmula. Mr. Andere is currently writing two law books and periodicals: a Law Book and a paper on Double Nationality issues and a book and periodical on Protection of Intellectual Property Rights in Mexico (articles and publications). KEY ACHIEVEMENTS During his career, Mr. Andere has received several recognitions and awards, and attains several professional achievements. Among them, (1) Mr. Andere received from the Mexico and the US Ambassadors, at the Mexican-American Foundation, the Award "Amigo de Los Estados Unidos", for his work in the development of the then Concept of a Free Trade Agreement between Mexico and the US and, after having been nominated to the 1990 US-Mexico Presidents' Round Table Discussion Group. (2) "Merit in Law" from the Mexico-US Foundations for his drafting and legislative work in the development of Mexico's 1991 Nationality Law and Constitutional reform in the area of Double Nationality for Mexicans and ownership of land in Mexico's costal and border areas by Mexicans holding additional nationalities. (3) In 1989, Mr. Andere was in charge on behalf of the California-Mexico Bar Association Committee to introduce the 1987 Conflict of Laws and Judicial Cooperation Reforms in Mexico to the Mexico City Superior Court. (4) In the area of Investor protection in Mexico, Mr. Andere was responsible for the issuance of a historical (1993) SECOFI Resolution awarding a foreign investor in Mexico his more than 30 Million US Dollars investments back and after years of litigation and having suffered a fraudulent conveyance of his assets and investments in the State of Sinaloa. (5) Mr. Andere is also accredited for the judicial re-acquisition of a High Profile Tourism Resort in the State of Jalisco (1995). (6) The successful legal fight and seizure of a high profile company software counterfeiting and trademark piracy in the State of Baja California (1996-1997), and (7) From 1999-2001), in one the most notorious Trademark and Franchise Law cases in the recent history of Mexico, Mr. Andere was responsible for the legal representation of the trademarks' US owner and Franchiser and for having protected the "Jack In The Box" trademarks and franchise in Mexico and prevented the continued misuse of such high profile franchise by illegitimate franchisees. Since 1985, Mr. Andere and IBLC have successfully represented numerous clients from Mexico, the U.S., Canada, Asia, and Europe.
