Ms. Olay joined the firm office in Mexico City in 2005 as of Counsel to matters of Environmental and Lobbying law. She is currently also de the Manager of the Mexican Academy of Private International Law and Comparative Law, A.C. which is hosted by our law firm’s Mexico City offices. AREAS OF PRACTICE Ms. Alejandra Olay practices in the areas of Administrative law, Environmental law and Lobbying law in Mexico. PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND Alejandra obtained her law degree from Escuela Libre de Derecho, México City, in 2000. She received her law degree with her thesis “The Civil responsibility derived from the Environmental damages” which can be consulted at www.senado.gob.mx Gaceta Parlamentaria, 9 de octubre del 2001. From 2000 to 2001 she receive a postgraduate Degree in Environmental Legislation from Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores Monterrey, Campus Estado de México. In 2002 she went on to undertake studies in European Human Rights at European University Institute. Becaria de dicho instituto In 2003 she received two Master Degrees: One in European Studies at Università degli Studi di Firenze, with a scholarship from the Ministry of Foreign Relations of Mexico, and a second one in Legislative Studies at Università degli Studi di Pisa. At the end of 2004 she was appointed Manager of the Mexican Academy of Private International Law and Comparative Law, A.C. in México City. Prior to her return to México, in 2004 Alejandra Olay worked in the General Direction of Communication and Press of the European Commission and the Commune of Florence. She worked as Researcher and Columnist in matters of European Integration In 2002-2003, she was an Advisor on matters of Constitutional Comparative laws and European Institutional laws to the Commission of Agriculture and Natural Resources of the Regional Council of Tuscany In 2001, she was a Legal Advisor at the Mexican Senate in the following Commissions: Constitutional law, Environmental law and Natural Resources, Tourism y Women Rights. In 2000 she worked at the law firm of Vera, Burguete y Celis in areas of Environmental law. In 1998, she provided social services at the Secretary of the Environment of the Mayor of México City From 1994-1996 she clerked with the firm of Zaldivar y Arámburu handling matters of Civil law and Constitutional law.
