Miguel A. Merino
Señor Associate –
Mexico City
Miguel Angel Merino was born in México City and received his law Degree
in 2001
from the School of Law of Universidad Intercontinental in Mexico City.
His thesis to receive his Law Degree entitled “Professional Ethics for
the Litigant” was regarding the ethical aspects of the law practice, an
intricate and profound interdisciplinary study regarding the
philosophical, ethical, anthropological and legal nature of the legal
practice.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Mr. Merino began his
professional law career in 1997, working in Mexico City for Logísitica
en Servicios Corporativos, S.A., where he was involved in lawsuit work
pertaining collection of notes, and doing follow up work on Civil,
mercantile, and real estate Law cases.
From January 1998 to
June 1999, Mr. Merino worked at the Mexico City law firm of Coninter y
Asociados, S.C., where he specialized in Civil, Leasing, mercantile, and
Amparo cases.
In light of the joint
venture merger between the above law firm and IBLC Abogados, S.C., in
July of 1999, IBLC Abogados, S.C., retained Mr. Merino in Mexico City as
a Litigation Clerk Associate. His duties included: International
Arbitration document control Clerking, Coordinator, Trademark Law and
Filings, civil and mercantile litigation documentation clerking, and
case management for Intellectual Property Rights' Protection
Proceedings.
In 2001, Mr. Merino
became a full time litigation department Associate for IBLC Abogados,
S.C., commuting between the Mexico City office and the then newly opened
Tijuana office of IBLC Abogados, S.C. and in charge of coordinating and
organizing the litigation department of IBLC Abogados, S.C. in Tijuana.
From 1999, Mr. Merino
has acquired significant expertise and reputation in the areas of civil
and commercial litigation, mortgage and pledge asset recovery, real
estate litigation and appeal, successfully representing major financial
institutions in Mexico and developers.
Mr. Merino has
participated in several Diploma workshops on Forensic Mercantile
Practice, Legal Auditing, and courses in English as a second language.
LANGUAGES
Mr. Merino speaks Spanish and English and
he is seventy percent fluent in written English.
